CIRCUIT AWARD :
To Honor the minor
(and MAJOR) mistakes we all make at one time or another in our
ham hobby . . . The trick is not to get caught
! This award is bestowed monthly at the G.F.A.A.R.C.
general meeting, in good natured recognition of things that
"getcha" when ya least expect it.
From towers getting away from a person and destroying a fence... to sitting on your microphone and keeping the repeater 'busy" for quite a few hours... to not reading your instruction manual, and returning to the dealer a "perfectly operational radio"... It's all here... Stories to be told and retold around the Field Day Campfire, or Hamfest Keg . . . Memories of Murphy . . .
A Plaque on the top of the award simply states: "Congratulations You Are The Newest Holder Of The Burnt Circuit Award"
A List of recipient's callsigns decorate the reverse side of the award, some repeating more the others.
One Multi-Time holder of this award
sums it up quite nicely,
" It proves you are out there doing something.
If you don't do something wrong once or twice, then you are
aren't doing anything in the hobby at all ! "
Since recording callsigns on the
back is a fairly NEW development, former holders of this award
will never be recognized for their contribution of
"doing something in the hobby" - much to
their relief I am sure - however the award speaks for
itself as the roll call of callsigns grows ever longer.
